By 1974, the Model 450 featured the \"cresting wave\" body shape and was known for its \"neck-through-body\" construction, which provided excellent sustain compared to the bolt-on necks of many competitors. It was a transitional year for the model, as the “Toaster” style pickups were replaced that year by high-gain single-coil pickups, giving it a punchier, more aggressive output.
