Production of the modern Japanese-made G6134 began in 1996. Following the 2003 partnership between Gretsch and Fender, production moved primarily to the Terada factory (JT prefix). Instruments from this era are noted for significant upgrades in historical accuracy, including revamped body shapes and improved pickups.
